While most people know the Chilmark Tavern for a wonderful summer dining experience, during the off-season the Tavern is transformed into an arts center that attracts the best of the island’s creative artists from poets, to singers, dancers, artists, knitters, piano players and performers.

As the island recovers from 3 and a half, (the last one didn't amount to much), Nor'easters in two weeks, we're recapping the total number of property transactions that Tea Lane Associates has been a part of for the first three months of 2018.

At the Vineyard Haven library on Tuesday night, there was a good turn out of people to hear Donald Nelson talk about his book entitled "Chappaquiddick Tragedy, Kennedy's Second Passenger Revealed". The book gives his account and theory behind the controversial tragedy and subsequent cover up involving Senator Ted Kennedy, and the death of one of his campaign aids, Mary Jo Kopechne.

This years "TEA LANE 2017 YEAR-END HIGHLIGHTS" are really impressive!

Despite the February temperatures, things are heatting up in the rental market and February has folks dreaming of their summer vacation on Martha's Vineyard.  The prime first two weeks of August are filling up fast,  but we still have plenty of great properties with lots of availability for summer 2018. And if you missed the Steamship Authority early ferry ticket sale, some smart homeowners purchased transferable ferry tickets which could be available to savvy renters.

The New Year was off to a cold start when we were hit with the famous “Bomb Cyclone” storm that effected the entire east coast. The island actually got more of a slushy snow mix and then temperatures plumetted and we were hit with a deep freeze that turned us into pretty much one massive ice skating rink!. It effected travel and schools for a day or two but the ice hockey players were happy out on the ponds and it certainly kept the plumbers busy!

Two classic Vineyard antique homes sold recently, each with unique and interesting pasts:

The first one was once home to the author and activist Lillian Hellman, and was first listed exclusively by Tea Lane Associates for $4,395,000 earlier in 2017.

This lovely West Tisbury home in a year round community, close to West Tisbury School, Alleys Store, and North Tisbury village is a true gem and offers great value being offered for under $700,000.  Access to coveted Lamberts Cove beach on the North Shore or Long Point on the South Shore is granted to all West Tisbury homeowners and its central island location means all the Vineyard towns and amenities are not too far away.

The first week of December and the Woods Hole ferry terminal was packed like it was the first week of August!

The end of October and into November saw 6 more property transactions come to fruition for Tea Lane Associates, including our spectacular listing on Austin Pasture Road, Chilmark.  We wrote about the property here. With some of the most breathtaking views the Vineyard has to offer, and its own private jeep track down to the pond, this magical spot sold to buyers from the West Coast (Los Angeles), who were itnroduced to the island by buyers of a previous Tea Lane listing in Chilmark.  They are planning a full rennovation project next year.  The property closed on November 17th for $7,400,000
