It was a double whammy for Tea Lane kids this past week when 3 of our teams teens excelled in Vineyard Basketball.
First up Leo Napior (son of Jill Hobby Napior), who plays with the Martha's Vineyard 8th grade team and is coached by his Dad Jason Napior, went on to win the Cape and Islands Championship for the 2nd year running, beating Barnstable
Second, in an article in the Feb 13th edition of the Cape Cod Times, High School seniors, Cam Napior (another son of Jill Hobby Napior) and Tobey Roberts (son of Elle Lash) both got mentioned at 2 of 15 unsung heroes of the Cape and Island players.
The newspaper took the story further by highlighting the individual talent of the boys.
Cam Napior, Martha's Vineyard
Napior may be the smallest guy on the court but still grabs a lot of rebounds, and the Senior guard hustles on both ends of the court. "Although he doesn't score much, he makes some timely baskets, like the game-tying and winning baskets on Nantucket", said Martha's Vineyard head coach Mike Joyce.
Toby Roberts, Martha's Vineyard
As a Senior captain forward Roberts is a leader that brings a lot of energy to practice and games. "He makes a lot of plays in-game that don't show up in the stat sheet," said coach Joyce.
