Vineyard Conservation Society Beach Clean-up Day is Back!

After last years cancellation due to Covid-19 lock down, it's great to see this community event happening again for Earth Day 2021
WHEN: Saturday, April 17th 10:00 am -12:00 pm
VCS is happy to report that we are able to return to (almost!) normal this year for our
29th annual event. We have different options so that everyone can participate while
feeling safe. Gather your family ‘pod’, or just get out there on your own. Wear a mask.
Keep your distance from non-pod members. We will not have our after-party this year
and will miss seeing everyone’s faces and hearing their trash stories, but it will be great
to have everyone out at the beaches!
Join us on April 17th at your favorite beach! Volunteers will be there with bags and
gloves, or BYO!
Not on MV on the 17th, or just feel like doing your own thing? Go to any beach, trail,
or neighborhood any day in April and clean up! Share your stories and photos with
us @vineyardconservation.org
POP-UP PHOTO CONTEST! Snap some pics of the coolest, grossest, most unusual things you find on
the beach. Post on Facebook or Instagram and tag @vineyardconservation, or just email us your
pics at info@vineyardconservation.org. We will have fun prizes for the best photos!
Local organizations returning this year to work at designated beaches include the MV
Bank, Lagoon Pond Association, Friends of Sengekontacket, Wampanoag Tribe of
Aquinnah, Tisbury Waterways Inc., MV Surfcasters Association, Sheriff’s Meadow
Foundation, The Church of Latter Day Saints, MV Striped Bass and Bluefish Derby
Committee, Junior Girl Scout troops, Brownie troop, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, Felix
Neck, Island Clean Up Project, Harborview Hotel, and The Trustees. Special thanks to
the DPW’s from Tisbury, OB and Edgartown, the MV Refuse District and Bruno’s for
taking care of all the beach trash!
