The weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas are always filled with anticipation and preparations, whether you are visiting family or friends here or live here year round its always an exciting time to be on Martha's Vineyard..... And we even had a few snow flurries yesterday, which always puts everyone in the mood for the holidays.
There are parties to attend and presents to buy plus catching up with people that we haven't seen for a while and attending to things that were perhaps neglected during the busy summer season. Its a happy time for celebrating the year that was and looking forward to the new year and all it will bring.
Christmas in Edgartown is a well anticipated event that happens the first week of December with plenty of fun things to do. A favorite is the lighting of the Edgartown Lighthouse on Friday evening and of course the highlight of the weekend is the parade on Saturday.

There are pop up holiday markets and shows happening throughout December with local artists and artisans showcasing their work and available to buy. Featherstone Center for the Arts in Oak Bluffs holds its Holiday Gift Show all of December and there's the Island Made Holiday Market at Gayle Gardens (formerly Heather Gardens) in West Tisbury. and in Vineyard Haven at the Cappawok theater you'll find the World Market Holiday Shop
The Met Opera live is being screened at the MV Film center Saturday Dec 9th and Sunday Dec 17th.
On Wednesday 13th December three local authors will be talking about their writing experience specifically "Martha's Vineyard as Muse for Memoir" - Nancy Aronie, Sherry Sidoti and Bill Eville will be at the Martha's Vineyard Museum from 5.30 -7pm
Pathways Arts are holding a winter solstice celebration on Dec 21st. The event is open to all and dedicated to its founder Marianne Goldberg
